Companions,
As we celebrate this Blessed season, we all really need to remember; remember the joys of our past and use them to apply to our day-to-day lives. There are likely no more vivid memories than our younger years at this time of year. We captured those memories with pictures, 8mm home movies, DVR recordings and now … cellphone videos. I know we all effectively cataloged all of that with the ability to find the right pictures?? The same is likely true of our Naval memories. Many pictures in a bag or photo album or even a cruise book. These are all precious to each of us. As we enjoy family and memories of past and current joys, take a few minutes to go through your old memories and write down the where, when and who of those old and crinkled shots. Share the memories with friends and family as you continue to document these wonderful years and create your own oral history. These are all the reasons that preservation of these memories is important. Doesn’t need to be a big monument, just a small collection of the precious memories we all hold dear. As we look to the new year make a commitment to share your own memories and preserve them for the future. We will all come together and work on bringing together the BIG Naval History piece in the next year, but it is your pieces of history, Family and Naval, that form the base for our continued efforts. May God Bless each of our Companions and their families and those who continue to serve and enable us to make more history!
