Sergeant Major Ronald L. Green USMC (Ret.)
It is with deep respect and appreciation that the Naval Order of the United States is proud to announce that Sergeant Major Ronald L. Green USMC (Ret.) has been selected to receive its Distinguished Sea Service Award-Senior Enlisted for 2022.
Sergeant Major Green was born in 1964 in Jackson, Missippi. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1983 and completed basic training at MCRD Parris Island, SC. During his 36 year career of active service in the Corps, he received meritorious promotions to Private First Class, Lance Corporal, Corporal, Sergeant and Staff Sergeant. He completed assignments in field artillery, as a drill instructor and Assistant Marine Officer Instructor (ROTC), First Sergeant, and as Sergeant Major at HQ, Marine Corps Henderson Hall and I MEF. He deployed to Somalia with Operation Restore Hope in 1993, South America (UNITAS) in 2002 and with HMLA 169 to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006. He was selected as Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps in 2015 and served until his retirement in 2019.
His academic credentials include a BS in Cybersecurity and MS in Cybersecurity Policy from the University of Maryland University College. After his retirement from active service he has been active as a Senior Manager for Southwest Airlines and with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. His senior awards include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal and the Legion of Merit (3 awards) together with many other service ribbons and medals and the Expert Rifle and Pistol Badges.
The Award was presented in October at the Naval Order Congress for 2022 in Alexandria, Virginia.
