Our honored guests will be student winners of the National History Day competition who will share their award-winning projects. Let's all take the opportunity to congratulate the students and their parents for their outstanding work. They give us all hope for the future.
--High School Award:
Zachary Brasher, "All Hands on Deck - The Debate Over Integration in the United States Navy, 1861 - 1865", a podcast. This will be a virtual appearance by Zoom.
--Middle School Award:
Alexander Miller, "The Cod Wars: Iceland's Victory Through Diplomacy and the Global Consequences of Their Success", a paper.
--Runner-up:
Rosie Gates, "The Pirate Who Saved America", a performance. The student will attend in person.
The podcast and performance are both limited to 10 minutes, with 5 minutes for Q&A. Alexander will read his paper, or summarize it for 10 minutes, with 5 minutes for Q&A. RADM Andrews will present the attending students their certificates and financial rewards.
$45 per person at the door
Social Hour 11:00 a.m. and Luncheon at 12:00 p.m., followed by our speaker/presentation. Secure at 13:30. Guests are welcome.
