CAPT Jason Burns, USN, Commanding Officer of USS Essex (LHD-2) and staff

UPDATE 9/30/2017

This is your final reminder that our 9 October meeting is off site, on USS Hornet on Alameda Island. If you have not already done so, I need your RSVP if you intend to come to our meeting, as we will have a caterer, who needs to have a count of attendees. Please get your reply to me by Monday 1 October.

Our guests will be CAPT Jason Burns, USN, Commanding Officer of USS Essex (LHD-2) and members of his staff, not yet disclosed. They will discuss recent activities of that command. The folks from USS Hornet will also give us a brief on the museum ship, and will offer a tour of the ship after our meeting.

I hope to see a large crowd of Companions and guests on the 9th! Here's a map and driving directions; parking is across the street from the ship: https://www.uss-hornet.org/visit-hornet/contact/driving-directions/   GPS address for the museum is 707 W Hornet Ave Alameda CA94501

UPDATE 7/28/2017

The October meeting will be on the scheduled date of 9 October (Columbus Day), but our venue will be an off-site,  aboard the USS Hornet in Alameda. Commander-select John McKnight is working through the Fleet Week organization to obtain visitors / ? speakers from ships that are in town for the the Fleet Week celebrations. Since we are having this event catered, we will need an accurate head count, so I will be asking for a formal RSVP when the time comes. Stand by for that in September.
