Luncheon - Treasure Island Museum: A Tribute to Beauty on San Francisco Bay

RADM Tom Andrews and Walt Bilofsky, Directors, TI Museum

Treasure Island’s latest transformation is underway, creating an internationally acclaimed sustainable urban community, a public art showcase and visitor destination. Originally built in 1937 for the Golden Gate International Exposition, this island was also the terminus for the pioneering transpacific Pan Am Clippers. It then became a naval station through which over four million people passed during World War II. Tom and Walt will discuss the history of the island, how its redevelopment will handle environmental challenges, and how its heritage of innovation, diversity and civic achievement informs this latest chapter.
