Fleet Week is upon us! We have an amazing line up of events and if you take a minute to scroll down you will find a few links to events open to our Companions. If you can attend, please do.
As the new Fleet Week Operations Manager, I find myself sitting in the organization’s “Command Center” (our garage office located in San Francisco’s Noe Valley) looking over the amazing line up of events that are coming our way. Fleet Week is just that: a full week of events that are focused on preparing our responder community for a major earthquake in the Bay Area. We meet, plan, and exercise our response capabilities with our visiting military partners, and all the while support great community events such as visits to hospitals and volunteer activities at the Food Bank. We have pop-up military band performances throughout every Supervisor District, and of course ship tours, the airshow, and hundreds of our finest young people in uniform enjoying time here in San Francisco.
I am very pleased to announce that our speaker at this month’s luncheon will RADM Cedrick Pringle, Commander Expeditionary Strike Group 3. He will share with us the mission of ESG3, their role in Fleet Week, and their role in Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief work (HADR). He is the visiting Strike Group Commander and I hope you will take the time to come out to the USS Hornet to hear him present to our Commandery.
