About the Presenter

Anthony “Tony” Tully is a naval historian/researcher who has had an insatiable, long-standing interest in the Imperial Japanese Navy. His interest in Midway was inspired by Walter Lord’s Incredible Victory: The Battle of Midway (1967). Tony, with co-author Jon Parshall, published their best-selling Shattered Sword: The Untold Story of the Battle of Midway (2005), with a primary focus on the IJN side of the Battle of Midway. The authors used “untapped Japanese primary sources, including Imperial Japanese Navy operational records never before used by Western authors” which gave them the ability to “reconstruct the actual sequence of the critical events of the June 4, 1942.” (Quoted portions from the book jacket.)
